First Tactical Velocity Pants

I had the pleasure of meeting Corey Nycoluk and First Tactical team on the Industry Range Day at SHOT SHOW 2017, where I got my first hands on look at their products. From a lengthy conversation with Corey, I discovered that most of the First Tactical designs had been reached by taking the time to personally read thousands of emails and letters from the returns department of his old job with another very wellknown tactical brand. Corey stated that he learned a lot about what worked and what certainly didn’t in the real world by civilians, contractors and military personnel alike. As I was listening to the origins of the design while handling the products, I could see these new designs were not just revamped versions of successful products but an all new approach to the industry completely.

This has been the cornerstone of everything that First Tactical produce; first and foremost, it must perform, and it must have the durability to continue doing so, even when faced with the most unforgiving of environments. Whilst Corey keeps adding new designs to the First Tactical line, these have all been tested to failure before release to market, so that the brand can hand on heart state that whatever you buy from them won’t let you down!

Making strides

So, it was that I was delighted to receive a pair of their Velocity Tactical Pants to evaluate. Made of lightweight, yet durable two-way mechanical stretch Ripstop fabric, the Velocity Tactical Pants are ultra-lightweight and highly functional tactical pants. They feature a heavy-duty YKK zip and Prym snap, seven wide belt loops, and running gusset for ease of movement during the demanding tasks.

In addition, these functional tactical trousers come with articulated and reinforced knees with double-layer knee pad pockets, multiple utility pockets and two hook-and-loop secured expandable side cargo pockets to carry oversized gear and have a Teflon Shield+ treatment, which repels water, oil, and stains.

Luckily for me, First Tactical also realise that we all come in different shapes and sizes rather than being uniformly-sized tailor’s mannequins and, not only do they offer waist sizes from 28 upwards, but they also cater for us ‘longlegs’ up to a whopping 36-inch inside leg! This means that you can really get a great fit and be comfortable in the Velocity pants, whatever your size.

In the field

In use, the Velocity’s are super comfortable, and both the stretch fabric and design tweaks really work with you and are not in any way restrictive. The soft, double-thickness waistband sits neatly beneath any belt without bunching and there are more than enough pockets of the right size and in the right places to stow away all you need and access it easily!

Thus far, I’ve been very impressed with the Velocity Pants, and at £69.95 from Military 1st they haven’t broken the bank either. Available in multiple colours, including OD Green, Khaki, Black and Midnight Blue these pants offer not only great comfort, but great value for money too!
