Jack Pyke Countryman Vest

Jack Pyke has a considerable number of garments in its Countryman Range, and as you’d expect, it’s a very comprehensive and well-considered one. From jackets to fleeces and all in-between, it’s not surprising it’s proved highly popular and is a range they regularly expand upon when the opportunity arises. The latest addition is the high-quality and very well-featured, Countryman Vest.

Quality build

The Countryman Vest is manufactured from durable, high-quality, heavy-duty cotton, which has also been treated with a Teflon fabric protector.

The vest sensibly features a part-elasticated waistband and a pair of reinforced shoulder pads. These pads show a stylish, yet practical quilted design and have extra padding to help with felt recoil. The vest fastens with a double front zipper and has a useful zipped, left breast chest pocket. Incidentally, all zips have pull assists.

Ammo & general storage

As one of the main functions of a vest of this type is to hold extra cartridges and to be able to store them for quick access, plus have storage for shot game, it has an impressively large capacity. This includes 2x lower pockets with press stud-secured over flaps that are of a cargo design. These are useful for holding loose shells or any accessory you feel the need to have close at hand.

Above each pocket, you’ll find a row of elasticated cartridge holders that can hold up to 8 shotgun cartridges, making the full tally 16. These are very easy to access for quick reloads, and the holders have a Velcro-secured cover flap to keep the ammunition secure and to protect it from the weather.
For extra carriage, should you require it, the vest also boasts 2x brass D-rings at the side, just below the armpits.

Fair game

At the rear is a large, PVC-lined game pouch, and it can be accessed by opposing side zip openings. Also, at the very rear is an extra-large pocket with Velcro fastenings that can be used for carrying even more shot game, as it is deep and articulates approximately 1” outwards. This design affords a very large amount of storage without restricting movement.

There’s even a discreet and small, PVC-lined, zip-fastened pocket within the game pouch itself. It can be accessed from the left and will keep valuables, such as your car keys, safe and protected from the weather.
